ABOUT SHAWN

From a young age, Shawn was intrigued by all things creative - especially art and photography.  His Grandfather was an artist specializing in oil paintings and he was inspired by his abilities and encouragement to pursue the arts.  He always dreamed of becoming an accomplished artist, architect or designer.  As he began his professional career and after many years working in corporate marketing, he became frustrated as his creative skills were being stifled.  He decided to try something different and turn his photography hobby into a full time business.  In 2004 Shawn formed Newlight Photography and Design - focusing on family and wedding portraiture.

In 2007 under the design mentorship of Max Jones and Tony Walker (of Jones Walker Home in Dallas, TX and now Jones Walker Art Gallery in Taos, NM) Shawn gained valuable tools of the trade and developed a new found passion for designing spaces and decorating interiors.  The rooms he designed became his canvas and the furnishings, art and accessories his paintbrush.  After working for several other luxury furniture brands including Natuzzi Italia’s flagship showroom, in 2012 he had the unique opportunity to move to New York City and work for French furniture company Ligne Roset in their Park Avenue showroom.

Life, love and a yearning for something of his own brought Shawn back to his hometown of Dallas, TX in 2018.  Hagewood Design, LLC was established and he began living his dream of helping others design beautiful, comfortable and unique interiors.

In 2020 Hagewood Design, LLC became Hagewood Interiors and partnered with Granite Guyz, LLC as his trusted general contractor in order to provide complete interior and exterior residential remodeling services. Together they completed numerous projects from single room makeovers to whole house renovations.

In 2022 Shawn relocated to Pittsburgh, PA. Shawn lives in Upper Saint Clair (South Hills area) of Pittsburgh with his husband Michael and two adorable dachshunds Gunner and Reese.
